Armando Castro Figueredo
Senior Regional Administrative and Programme Officer, UNHCR Regional Representation for United States and the Caribbean

Has more than 16 years of experience in Administration, Finance and Programme Management in the UN system and other multilateral organizations including the European Commission. Through the years, he succeeded in diverse multicultural environments, including in the MENA region, Latin America, Europe, and the United States.  Since January 2014, serves in the Regional Representation in Washington DC, overseeing the implementation of efficient administrative resources in the USA and the Caribbean Region.  He acts as advisor with authority to discuss problems and seek common ground on which to recommend solutions based on UN guidelines and policies and is responsible for supervising Administration, Finance, Programme, Human Resources, Security and ICT related matters.  Before being reassign to Washington DC, he was responsible for Programme related issues for Southern Europe and Governmental Donor Relations in Italy.  He has been part of UNHCR’s Emergency Response Team in Egypt and Angola with exposure to field work in sectors such as Protection, Camp Management and UN Inter-Agency coordination including management of UN Inter-Agency Appeals.  Mr. Castro Figueredo holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science.  He is a national of Guatemala, fluent in Spanish, English and Italian, married with one child.
