Llani Kennealy


Llani Kennealy is a Wing Commander from the Royal Australian Air Force with over 20 years’ experience across a number of different postings. She is currently seconded to UN Women for two years commencing in January 2020 to work as a military liaison officer with a focus on peacekeeping. She has extensive policy development and practical experience in implementing diversity and inclusion measures, in particular with regards to increasing women’s participation in the military including a posting as the Director of Gender Programs for the Australian Air Force. She has been a gender advisor to her chief of Service, and prior to this posting, she was in charge of managing the Australian Department of Defence implementation responsibilities of Australia’s National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security. This included the development of Operational Doctrine on gender in military operations and contribution to the development and delivery of the Australian Defence Force Gender Advisor Course. She has also deployed on Operations most recently to Iraq in 2019 as a gender advisor to the Commander (3*) of Operation Inherent Resolve. She is also the chair of the Women’s Military Network in New York.
