POSTPONED - The United Nations and Human Rights in Washington, DC

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 coronavirus situation, this event has been POSTPONED until further notice.

UNA-NCA offers new opportunities for UNA members and friends to participate in the fight for Human Rights in DC. Start by joining us at “The United Nations and Human Rights in Washington DC” – a public forum on March 24, at 5:30 PM sponsored by UNA-NCA and its partners in the International Human Rights Law Clinic at The George Washington University Law School and the DC Human Rights City Alliance.  Doors open at the GWU Law School Faculty Lounge at 5:30 PM, for networking and snacks. The program begins at 6:00 PM.

The March 24 forum is but one of a series of activities organized by UNA-NCA’s Human Rights Committee on the occasion of the 2020 Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of the United States performance on human rights by the UN’s Human Rights Council. Since the summer of 2019, the UNA-NCA Human Rights Committee, with its partners, has organized a survey of DC residents on human rights issues that concern them in their lives, held grassroots roundtable discussions, prepared shadow reports as NGO submissions for the UN Human Rights Council for the United States UPR, and organized Embassy Visits in Washington by UNA-NCA volunteers and partners to present the UNA-NCA findings and recommendations to UN Member States for possible submission to the United States.   Join us on March 24, and engage with UNA-NCA and its partners in the fight for human rights in DC and around the world.
