In honor of Black History Month, UNA-NCA reaffirms its commitment to Sustainable Development Goal 10 to Reduce Inequalities. We support the SDG policies that promote equality for people of African descent, across the national capital area and throughout our nation.

This month UNA-NCA will host programming with experts in racial justice and truth-telling to bridge international human rights frameworks with the policies at the national and local levels.

In furtherance of the work of the United Nations, UNA-NCA:
  • Supports the extension of the International Decade for People of African Descent;
  • Calls on Congress to support policies that further SDG 10 on racial equality, including support for the recommendations and findings outlined in the UN Expert Mechanism to Advance Racial Justice and Equality in Law Enforcement;
  • Commits to activities that educate members on critical issues facing communities of color, inclusive of women and LGBTQ communities.
  • Urges members across Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia to support local policies that advance racial and gender equality.
