UNA-NCA Advocacy

What We Do
The overarching goal of our advocacy efforts is to fulfill our mission to “increase public understanding and support of the United Nations, encourage constructive US leadership in strengthening the United Nations, and prepare present and future leaders to work for a better world, both globally and locally."

The United Nations Association of the National Capital Area (UNA-NCA) collaborates with its parent organization, UNA-USA, as well as the Better World Campaign, in providing materials and opportunities to advocate our Members of Congress and their staffs on Capitol Hill. Our members engage in advocacy in a number of ways including through digital advocacy, opinion editorials posted on our blog and sent to members through our weekly newsletter, visits with staff and Members on Capitol Hill, phone calls, direct mail and email campaigns, and more. Members of UNA-NCA have access to advocacy resources including trainings and information on various UN-related issues.

Core Issues
UNA-NCA advocates for and informs our congressional representatives on on critical issues which fall into a number of categories, including U.S.-UN Partnership, Peace and Security, Human Rights, the Economy, and Climate/Environment. Check each category often, as we will add new materials and resources throughout the year.
