What is Global Classrooms DC?

Global Classrooms® DC (GCDC) is the flagship education program of the United Nations Assocaition of the National Capital Area (UNA-NCA). GCDC works with a diverse group of students grades 6-12, including some of DC’s most underserved communities, to improve their public speaking, teach conflict management skills, and expand their understanding of global issues while making local connections. We strive to expose our students to the rich resources of our nation’s capital. Our programming is open to all public, private, and international schools, homeschool co-ops, and student leadership organizations in the US and abroad. Global Classroom DC 2016 - 2017 Programming & Conferences

Global Classrooms DC creates original curriculum, activities, and simulations to teach students about the United Nations and international affairs through Model UN. Model UN is a fun and interactive way to get students thinking and debating about international issues, while learning different perspectives and foreign policies.

Enroll in our year-round program for curriculum, training manuals, webinars, and invitation only events including our Fall Model UN Training Conference and Professional Development workshop.

Attend our Annual Spring Model UN Conference hosted at the U.S. Department of State this year taking place on May 2, 2017. For coverage of the 13th Annual Global Classrooms DC Spring Model UN Conference please visit UNA-NCA News

This year GCDC students will learn and discuss the following issues: rising sea levels (middle school only), preventing violent extremism (grades 11-12 only), the situation in Somalia, human rights of refugees, access to primary education, and technology for sustainable development.
