Oksana Horbunova has been working on counter-trafficking for more than 25 years. Starting from the creation of the first counter-trafficking NGO in Ukraine to protect the rights of trafficking survivors. She testified before the U.S. Congress in support of passage of the United States' groundbreaking anti-trafficking legislation, the Victims of Trafficking and Violence Protection Act of 2000.
When pro-democracy protests broke out in Kyiv in 2004 and 2013, she was on the frontlines to demonstrate for human rights and justice.
She has been serving at the International Organization for Migration Mission in Ukraine as the Counter-Trafficking Programmer Coordinator for many years.
Her counter-trafficking efforts were awarded by the Ukrainian Government and honored by Vital Voices Global Partnership for dedication of professional life to combat trafficking in human beings.
Since the Russian’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 she has been working to support Ukrainian women’s NGOs which are providing humanitarian assistance to women with children and other vulnerable groups of internally displaced persons (IDPs).
