Who we are: With the support of more than 2,000 members, volunteers, and supporters in the DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia area, United Nations of the National Capital Area (UNA-NCA) works to build public knowledge, strengthen US-UN relations, and aid the UN in achieving its goals.

UNA-NCA is Currently seeking a co-chair to lead the volunteer Human Rights CommitteeQualifications:
- Passion for a better U.S.-UN partnership and leading energetic volunteers in promoting the Global Goals in DC, MD, and Northern VA
- Must be/come current UNA-NCA member
- Availability to commit to regular committee meetings (at least quarterly) and additional meetings with UNA staff, and any planning meetings related to events throughout the year.
- Be self-driven with the ability to work in a flexible environment
- Applicants DO NOT need to be a current member of the committee
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate regular committee meetings (1-2 hours per month)
- Guide the development of committee-led events throughout the year including reviewing event proposals, coordinating with the UNA-NCA office, speaker outreach, and other planning tasks (1+ hours per month)
- Assist with committee administration (1 hour per month)
- Participate in quarterly UNA-NCA Program Leader Meetings (2 hours each quarter)
- Support the committee communications efforts (1 Hour per month)
- Assistance with the maintenance of a program members roster with membership in good standing.
- Encourage, mentor, and develop committee members in support of their personal and professional goals
- Support UNA-NCA efforts in advocacy, fundraising, and recruiting new members by developing outreach plans.
- Actively foster and maintain key internal and external relationships within the various working and standing committees of the organization at the local and national chapter levels
