Sustainable Development focuses on meeting development goals such as the eradication of poverty and the protection of human rights, while also tackling climate change and preserving our planet. This means moving towards a more sustainable and peaceful world for all.
UNA-NCA promotes sustainable development through advocacy, programming, and our Sustainable Development Committee.
The Sustainable Development Goals consist of 17 goals adopted by the United Nations in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that by 2030 all people enjoy peace and prosperity. Are UN member states on track to achieve the SDGs by 2030? Check out our SDG Spotlights, comprehensive reports written by UNA-NCA's Advocacy Team! These spotlights are broad progress reports on each of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
UNA-NCA Coffee Chats have successfully brought together global, national, and local leadership--as well as hundreds of UN advocates across the country--through this series of dynamic and engaging discussions, all centered on the Sustainable Development Goals. Throughout the year, UNA-NCA will continue to highlight the work of senior leaders across the United Nations, Congress, the private sector and civil society through hour-long virtual roundtables that seek to answer--what are our shared goals? What is the future of sustainable development? Most importantly--how do we keep the spirit of hope alive?
