Through the creation of a groundbreaking online dashboard, the Global Goals at Home program is cataloguing, localizing, and contextualizing progress towards achieving the SDGs across Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.
Companies, NGOs, and the public sector will be able to harness both the accessibility and analytical power of the United Nations’ universally-recognized 17 Sustainable Development Goals using geo-specific data. As such, organizations can scout Corporate Social Responsibility and ESG opportunities, adapt strategies in accordance with local considerations, and increase their reach across diverse audiences by assessing and communicating outcomes through the language of the SDGs.

The Challenge
Work surrounding the advancement of human rights and universal dignity rarely has the capacity to be interdisciplinary, and organizations are constrained to work in silos. There is a need to connect direct service producers with researchers, additional resources, and legislators in order to drive sustainable, inclusive change. Furthermore, relevant data can be difficult to access, featured across varying platforms (and sometimes behind paywalls) with no standard accounting method, no consolidated library across disciplines, and significant data gaps. The Opportunity
The 17 United Nations Global Goals for Sustainable Development (SDGs) offer a global agenda for critical transformation. The SDGs provide a necessary framework to collaborate across stakeholders- but they measure progress using benchmarks that do not capture the reality of inequality and critical need in the United States, particularly at the municipal level. Our Mission
The SDGs provide an interconnected blueprint for sustainable and inclusive change-- a blueprint for all stakeholders to consider and adapt. We’ve created an interactive online dashboard that documents quantitative and qualitative progress towards the SDGs across DC, MD, and VA. This dashboard utilizes proxy indicators at the State, County/Ward, and Congressional District levels in order to localize and contextualize the SDGs.
Our Community
Starting in 2022, UNA-NCA will begin hosting SDG Consultations around each of the goals in order to ensure the enduring relevance of the utilized proxy indicators.
