Christopher Williams
Ryan Brenner is a mission-driven international development professional with over a decade of experience in strategic partnerships, business development, and nonprofit leadership focused on peacebuilding, democracy, and human rights. She brings a deep commitment to inclusive, locally led development and has worked across the nonprofit and private sectors to advance programming funded by USAID, the State Department, and philanthropic institutions.

Ryan joined Saferworld USA in 2022 as the Senior U.S. Partnerships Manager, where she led strategic engagement with U.S. government funding and developed partnerships with organizations such as DT Global and PartnersGlobal. She supported award negotiations for a multi-year Women, Peace and Security program funded by the U.S. Secretary’s Office of Global Women’s Issues.

Prior to Saferworld, Ryan held business development roles at ME&A, Global Communities, and IBI, where she coordinated multimillion-dollar bids in sectors ranging from public financial management to trade facilitation, WASH, youth development, and monitoring and evaluation. Her leadership contributed to successful project awards in Pakistan, El Salvador, and Liberia, and she has supported field-based project startup and closeout activities in a variety of contexts.

Ryan interned at the U.S. Department of State before volunteering in Khartoum, Sudan, where she spent 10 months teaching English and communications at local universities. She holds a BA in Political Science and International Affairs from George Washington University, where she was a student leader in STAND, the student-led movement to end mass atrocities and advocate for peace in Sudan and South Sudan.

In Fall 2025, Ryan will begin her Master of International Service (MIS) degree at American University’s School of International Service. The MIS program is designed for mid-career professionals and will deepen her skills in international policy, management, and global leadership supporting her long-term goal to advance positive peace and locally-led development.

As Co-Chair of the Peace and Security Committee for the United Nations Association of the National Capital Area (UNA-NCA), she continues to champion inclusive and meaningful multilateral cooperation in support of sustainable peace and development.
