Mary serves as the Program Assistant for the United Nations Association of the National Capital Area. She earned her BA in International Studies from American University, focusing on global inequality and development in the Western Hemisphere. Her minor in Justice expanded her knowledge and interest in human rights efforts and advocacy for vulnerable populations, both in the United States and abroad.

Most of her work and studies pertain to international development, immigration, human rights, and Latin American affairs. Mary conducted research for American University’s Immigration Lab, Center for Latin American and Latino Studies, and Peace and Violence Research Lab. She also volunteered as a translator at the Immigration Lab and as a reviewer for the Clocks & Clouds Journal on National and Global Affairs. Her experiences led to her passion for global governance and cross-cultural communication. Mary hopes to contribute her efforts to human rights advocacy, decolonial development, and conflict resolution.
