Volunteer Program

The Global Classrooms DC Volunteer Program is a way to connect those who live and work in the Washington metropolitan area with schools and students. The Volunteer Program supports students as they learn more about the world beyond their neighborhood through the people who work in their city.

Global Classrooms DC is currently looking for Volunteers in the following areas:

Click here to Volunteer in the Classroom as a Model UN Mentor: visit a classroom to help GCDC teachers explain to their students Model UN Rules of Procedure, prepare for Model UN Conferences, run mini-simulations, and more!

Click here to Volunteer in the Classroom as a Foreign Policy Mentor (Professionals): a great opportunity for those with regional or topical expertise that are looking to share their experiences with students!

GCDC Curriculum Consultant
Inform DC Public School teachers and students on the basics behind international affairs — in your area of expertise! Design interactive mini-simulations, revise background guides, or help with special events or classroom activities on your topic of interest.

GCDC Conference Policy Advisor
Act as the "home government" to various delegations at Training Conferences and the Spring Model UN Conference. Advise student delegates on what their country's positions would be and how they should respond to the statements of other delegates. Encourage students to engage and participate in committee sessions.

GCDC Logistical Support
Support GCDC students and teachers by providing vital event support for training conferences and the Spring GCDC Model UN Conference at the State Department. To help our events for students run smoothly, volunteers are needed for registration, breakfast, lunch, emergency support, and more.

Volunteers are needed for the:

    • GCDC Middle and High School Training Conference (October/November)
    • GCDC Spring Model UN Conference at the State Department (April/May)
