GCDC Community Benefits
Original Global Education Curriculum
GCDC’s uniquely designed global education curriculum introduces students to the United Nations, international issues, and country perspectives through Model UN. Model UN allows them to practice key skills, including writing, researching, public speaking, negotiation, and advocacy while debating, representing countries in the UN.GCDC’s Year-Round curriculum includes:
- Ten units, three lessons each.
- Three foundational units covering the UN system and Model UN.
- Seven topical units based on Sustainable Development Goals and Human Rights issues.
- Educator’s Guide, Student Workbook, and PowerPoint Presentations per unit.
- Mini model UN simulations per unit.
- Additional Resources for This Year
- Chair/Instructor Manual for MUN Simulations
- MUN Diplomatic Pitch Exercise
- Supplemental Activities for topical units
Units can be covered in order, be adapted based on country and state curriculum requirements, and/or used as a cross-curricular activity. However, GCDC staff recommend that the foundational Units 1-3, be completed first before moving onto the 7 topical units.

Educator, Bells Mill Elementary School (MD)
"Model UN means the journey without an end. I am always learning something new, always meeting new people, discovering how to debate and diplomatically solve conflicts affecting the world. I’ve discovered how to grow from constructive criticism instead of bottling up my feelings of being a failure. But honestly, in essence, MUN is just plain, old, FUN.”
Student, Alice Deal Middle School (DC)
